About Me
About me:
I am watching you as much as you are watching me 
Hello I am an out and Proud lesbian living in West Yorkshire with my beautiful partner Helen. We have been together 7 years and have 3 beautiful children (all girls), 2 cats (girls) 2 fish (girls) and a Tortoise (you guessed it a girl).
The Queer Village (born on 14/2/10) is our mission and we want to become the place to-be for the LGBT people to find love, friendship, hope, events, services and most of all COMMUNITY!
The Queer Village started life as Pretty Pink Pearl - an online clothing retailers selling Lesbian themed Tees to the Lesbian Community. We started it because we were frustrated with the lack of 'thought' that many t-shirt designers use when coming up with the standard lesbian slogan tee. So we decided to offer something a little bit different and a bit more subtle. Being MAD LWord fans (well I am) we decided on the name after watching the 3rd season of the LWord.
After running as a T-shirt shop for almost a year we decided that the people who had joined our site (like a mailing list) needed a little bit more. All they could do at that point was upload a picture of themselves and a basic profile and link these to products in the shop!
We also realised that we needed to do something different as becoming parents to 3 children in a week was a little bit of a challenge! I left my job and became a Full-time Mum to a 20mth old, a 3yr old and an 11yr old. T-shirts were becoming a pain as they took so much time to produce and I started to Focus on giving a little bit more to the site. In May 2009 we turned it into a social networking site - still with the t-shirts and still with the same name and opened the doors. Within a month we had 1000 members. Now - 9 months down the line we have nearly 10,000 members.
We knew back in June that we had to do more, offer more, and make it into a business...so we went to the bank and started developments - really scary when we are in the middle of a recession. I think what makes us different though is that we really care and we want to offer people a FREE site and also allow businesses the chance to reach the LGBT community without being exploited.
We are REAL People - We are REAL lesbians and we want you to feel at home here!

Just finished reading Dan Brown - I know how late! Really like Stella Duffy and her style. Used to design covers for Naiad when I worked at Phoenix Graphics in Florida so any Lesbian author really I will give a shot. The girls are reading Harry Potter, so really liking that too!
Finally - Patience and Sarah ...what an awesome book!

Hi T, great to see you and Helen on Saturday, your girls are so gorgeous, it was amazing how completely unphased they were by all the colourful sights, obviously an everyday occurence in Hudds lol! Hope you managed to find them some food and a funfair. It was great being part of the parade instead of just watching like we usually do. I got a nice sun tan! After eating and having a dance in Trafalgar Sq, we ended up in Candy Bar and left the remaining QV cards there. Thanks very much, we had a fun time.

hoping to do derby, might have a friend with me that weekend and they don't have room for 2 wheelchairs on a bus so might not be able to as an't afford a taxi to derby and back. in knebworth for sonisphere so not at notts, got talked into going but could be a big financial mistake ah well, seeing Iron Maiden should ease the pain a little

Hi, i was just wondering - is there something going on with the Village recently? I got rid of my pictures on my profile a couple of days ago, to replace them with more recent ones, but it won't let me add any more pictures? I've tried renaming the images, refreshing the page, etc. There is nothing wrong with my computer, and I would like to add these pictures to my profile. Everytime I attempt to upload one, it says please 'select an image' and its getting annoying :/

Ah thank you! And no actually, my Mum is Irish and my Dad is German. They though I was going to be a boy so they wanted to name me Sterling so when I popped out as a girl they decided to name me out of the gender binary!
